Tooth Brushing
Correct use of the toothbrush:
Choose a soft, rounded brush
This way, you won't hurt your gums or scratch your tooth enamel. Tilt the brush at a 45-degree angle and glide it from the gums to the tips of your teeth.
Make circular movements
Choose small groups of teeth and brush the side facing the cheeks, the insides, and the surfaces of the teeth. Never brush back and forth.
Gently brush your tongue
A large part of bad breath problems comes from it, so don't skimp on the toothbrush and clean your tongue too.
Store in the appropriate place
The toothbrush should be kept clean and dry, and in an upright position. Without proper care, bacteria, viruses, and fungi can attach themselves to the bristles.
Brush should be changed every three months
Toothbrushes have an expiration date: the average lifespan is three months. However, in Brazil, the average person uses less than one toothbrush per year. After three months, the bristles deteriorate and lose their effectiveness. Furthermore, moisture and food debris on the bristles are a breeding ground for germs, which can lead to toothbrush contamination.
Chew slowly
Chewing slowly, with both sides of the mouth, prevents crowding, gum problems, and even cavities—if the muscles on one side are lax, food debris can infiltrate. To prevent tooth fractures, avoid biting your nails, opening packages, or biting into ice.
Select the foods
Drinking too much acidic beverages—such as soda, sports drinks, citrus juices, and teas—causes dental erosion. Teeth become fragile, brittle, and have irregular edges. Enamel weakens, taking on a yellowish tone. Gums recede, causing sensitivity. Red wine, coffee, artificial juices, dark teas, soda, and foods like beets and carrots can cause stains.
Take care of your gums
Swollen, red, and bleeding gums, gaps between teeth, or bad breath are signs of periodontal disease, which involves structures in the mouth other than the teeth. Treatment ranges from proper hygiene to in-office tartar removal and medication. Gum recession can be caused by using excessive force while brushing.

Taking care of your teeth is essential for good health. After all, there's no point in having beautiful skin and a healthy body if your smile doesn't match the rest of your appearance. Furthermore, neglecting oral hygiene can cause problems for the rest of your body, as the mouth is a gateway for bacteria.
Reinforce your hygiene routine and incorporate healthy habits.
